Client & Group Types
The Client & Group Types page lets you define the categories of clients and groups your organisation manages.
Navigation: Administration → General Setup → Client & Group Types
Client Types
Client types classify the individuals or entities your organisation serves. Common examples:
| Client Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Individual | A natural person (member, customer) |
| Member | A SACCO or cooperative member |
| Corporate | A registered business entity |
| Joint | A jointly held account holder |
Creating a Client Type
- Click Create on the Client Types section
- Fill in the form:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Type Name | The name of the client category (e.g., "Member") |
| Description | Optional description of this type |
| Minimum Age | Minimum age requirement for clients of this type |
| Can Have Guarantors | Whether clients of this type can act as or have guarantors |
- Submit the form
How Client Types Are Used
- When creating a new client, you select their type
- Client types can have different custom field requirements
- Reports can be filtered by client type
- Loan product eligibility may be restricted to certain client types
Group Types
Group types define the categories of groups in your organisation. Groups are collections of clients that share a common bond.
| Group Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Solidarity Group | A group where members guarantee each other's loans |
| Village Savings | A community savings group |
| Self-Help Group | An autonomous group for mutual aid |
Creating a Group Type
- Click Create on the Group Types section
- Fill in the form:

| Type Name | The name of the group category |
| Description | Optional description |
| Minimum Members | Minimum number of members required |
| Maximum Members | Maximum number of members allowed |
