Deposit Accounts
Deposit accounts hold customer balances and transaction history. Users should confirm product, customer, currency, status, and operational restrictions before processing transactions.
When users open Statement from a deposit account, the generated Download PDF and Print outputs now use the shared tenant document identity configured under Organisation Details. The export keeps the account-specific body, period, balances, and transactions, while the organisation header/footer stays consistent with other standard business documents.
Important account-opening fields include:
| Field | What It Means | User Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit Product | The product whose rules the account will follow. | Controls currency, limits, interest, fees, holder eligibility, GL behavior, and lifecycle handling. |
| Holder Type | Whether the account belongs to an individual, group, joint structure, or another enabled holder type. | Controls which customer or group fields are required. |
| Account Holder | The customer, group, or member structure that owns the account. | Drives statements, mandates, available transactions, and reporting. |
| Business Unit | The branch or operating unit responsible for the account. | Must be allowed by product restrictions and affects operational reporting. |
| Opening Balance | Initial amount used when the account is opened where applicable. | Must satisfy product minimum-opening rules. |
| Account Status | Whether the account is pending, active, frozen, closed, or otherwise restricted. | Controls which actions and transactions are allowed. |
| Mandate or signatory setup | Who can operate or approve activity on the account. | Prevents unauthorized withdrawals, transfers, and account instructions. |
Use Validate Opening before or during account creation when the product has strict eligibility, balance, branch, KYC, or holder-type rules.
Blocked Funds And Holds
Blocked funds and holds restrict the available balance. They may be used for lien activity, pending transactions, security, disputes, or internal controls.
Users should review active holds before explaining available balances to customers.
Mandates
Mandates define who is allowed to operate an account or approve activity. Mandate details should be kept current to prevent unauthorized transactions.
EOD Processing
Deposit EOD processing handles scheduled product activity such as interest, fees, dormancy, maturity, sweeps, and other automated account behavior.
Users should review EOD exceptions before relying on the next day's balances.
Fixed Deposits And Savings Plans
Fixed deposits manage term-based deposits with maturity behavior. Savings plans manage structured saving commitments. Community funds support group or community-managed deposit activity where enabled.
For a full scenario from party setup through account opening, funding, restrictions, EOD, and closure, see Deposit Account Opening To Close.
Common Operational Checks
| Situation | What To Check |
|---|---|
| Account cannot be opened | Product status, product flags, holder type, business unit availability, KYC or eligibility requirements, and opening balance. |
| Withdrawal is blocked | Available balance, blocked funds, holds, mandate requirements, account status, withdrawal limits, and product restrictions. |
| Fixed deposit maturity looks wrong | Term features, funding date, maturity date, renewal instruction, interest payout configuration, and EOD completion. |
| Interest or fees did not apply | Product flags, pricing profile, EOD status, account status, and accounting mappings. |
| Balance differs from customer expectation | Statement, transaction history, holds, blocked funds, pending items, fees, interest, and reversal history. |
