Member Portal Overview
The Member Portal is the mobile-first app your members, investors, borrowers and guarantors use to see their accounts and act on them themselves — check balances, make contributions, apply for a loan, respond to a guarantee request, commit to an investment, download statements and manage their own security. It is separate from the staff application: a member only ever sees their own records, never staff screens or other members' data.
This guide is written for the person using the portal. If you run the portal for your organization (invitations, lock, revoke, link disputes, rollout), see the operations runbooks in the system documentation instead.
For the full click-by-click path, see the Member Portal Walkthrough.
Who uses it and how they get in
The portal is invitation-only — there is no public sign-up. Your organization invites you from your member record, and you receive a message (email or SMS) that is branded with your organization's name so you know who it is from. You accept the invitation, set a transaction PIN, and you are in.
| You are… | You typically use the portal to… |

| A guarantor | Accept or decline a request to guarantee someone's loan |
| An investor | Browse investment pools, commit funds, request withdrawals |
| A group officer | View group positions and act within your delegated level |

How security works (what to expect)
- One login, every context. You log in once. If you belong to more than one context — say two SACCOs, or you are both a borrower and an investor — a switcher lets you move between them. Each context's data is kept separate.
- A transaction PIN for money actions. Viewing your accounts needs only your login. Actions that move money or create an obligation — a withdrawal, a loan application, an investment commitment, guaranteeing a loan — ask you to confirm with a one-time code (OTP) and/or your transaction PIN. This is called step-up verification and it appears right before you confirm the action.
- Your PIN is yours alone. It is 4–8 digits, never shown to staff, and stored only in a form that cannot be reversed. If you enter it wrong too many times it locks for a short while; you can reset it yourself with a one-time code (see the walkthrough).
- Some requests need approval. When you apply for a loan or request a withdrawal, your organization's staff approve it through their normal process. The portal shows you the status and the next expected step — it never shows you approver names or internal notes.
- Your devices. You can see the devices signed in to your account, rename them, mark one as trusted, and sign out of others. A trusted device may ask you to log in less often, but it never skips the PIN/OTP on a money action.
Install it like an app
The portal is a Progressive Web App (PWA). When you open it on your phone, you can Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an installed app — the installed name is your organization's name followed by "- Pinkapple ERP". You do not need an app store.
Privacy
- You only ever see your own records. When you are a guarantor or counterparty on someone else's loan, you see only what is necessary (for example, eligibility and the accepted amount and name) — never their balances.
- Statements and exports are yours; they carry your reference and the time they were produced.
- Signing out clears your session; the app does not keep your financial data cached for the next person on the device.
Getting help
If you cannot receive your code, or you have lost the phone/email on your account, your organization has to re-verify who you are (usually in person) before restoring access — there are no security questions. Contact your organization's support desk; they have a runbook for exactly this.
