1. Review The Share Type
Open Shares -> Setup -> Products and review the available product type or behavior options exposed on the product form.
This page is for reviewing the available share type families and the behavior profiles attached to them.
Use it to confirm:
- product group;
- product type;
- key characteristics;
- whether the type supports transfers, exits, pledges, dividends, voting, capital calls, or other major workflows.
2. Configure Tax Rules First When Taxation Is Enabled
Open Shares -> Setup -> Products and confirm whether the product requires share-domain taxation. If the tenant has dedicated tax configuration enabled, complete that setup before approving the product.
Create approved tax configurations before you create or edit a product that uses share-domain taxation.
Use this page for tax rules such as:
- dividend withholding;
- capital gains tax;
- transfer tax;
- stamp duty.
The share product links to an approved and currently effective share tax configuration. Do not use a pricing profile as a substitute for tax setup.
3. Create The Share Product
Open Shares -> Setup -> Products.
Configure the base product information:
- name;
- share type;
- currency;
- par value;
- issue limits;
- holding limits;
- dividend policy;
- governance defaults;
- membership and contribution fields;
- pricing profile where pricing behavior applies;
- tax configuration where tax behavior applies.
Then use the behavior and integration section to review the options loaded from the selected type and apply only the permitted product-level values.
Pricing vs Tax Linkage
Use the two lookups differently:
- Pricing Profile: fees, rates, valuations, and pricing behavior.
- Tax Configuration: approved share tax rates and effective-date tax treatment.
If pricing is enabled, the product needs a valid approved pricing profile. If taxation is enabled, the product needs a valid approved tax configuration.
4. Review The Behavior Preview
Before saving or approving the product, review the preview for:
- available workflows;
- account balances and restrictions;
- dividend behavior;
- governance rights;
- lending restrictions;
- pricing and taxation dependencies;
- accounting readiness warnings.
If the preview is wrong, adjust the product values or review whether the selected share type is the right one.
5. Complete Accounting Setup
Use:
- Accounting -> Setup -> GL Posting Rules
- the share product finance mapping fields exposed during product setup
These two layers are both required:
- GL links tell Pinkapple which standing finance accounts the product uses.
- Posting rules define how operational events are reviewed and posted.
Without complete accounting setup, a share transaction may validate operationally but fail during finance review.
6. Apply Business Unit Restrictions
Use the restriction controls on Shares -> Setup -> Products if the product should only operate in specific business units, branches, or services.
7. Validate Related Domain Dependencies
Check the related domains that the product expects to use:
- Parties for member, employee, KYC, age, and segment restrictions.
- Pricing for fee, valuation, and tier logic.
- Share Tax Configs for withholding and other share tax rules.
- Loans for share-backed lending rules.
- Payments, wallets, bank, cash, or deposits for funding and dividend payout routing.
- Governance for meetings and voting execution.
8. Test Transaction Outcomes
Before production use, test at least:
- a share account creation;
- a purchase or allotment;
- a transfer if the product allows it;
- a pledge if the product allows it;
- a withdrawal or redemption if the product allows it;
- a dividend projection and allocation if the product is dividend-eligible;
- an accounting review for a posted share transaction.
Confirm that users understand which status means the ownership impact is final.
Operational Note
If a share transaction requires accounting approval or scheduled posting, Pinkapple preserves the transaction intent first and applies the final ownership effect only after the finance outcome succeeds. This prevents share balances from changing before the accounting event is accepted.
