Deposit Account Statuses
Deposit account statuses control what users and automated processes are allowed to do with an account.
Workspace Reference
| Workspace | How Users Reach It | What Users Usually Do There |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit Accounts | Deposits -> Operations -> Accounts | Review status, run allowed account actions, and inspect balance or restriction context. |
| Fixed Deposits, Savings Plans, And Community Funds | Deposits -> Operations | Review specialized status behavior for product-specific account types. |
| Deposit Products | Deposits -> Setup -> Products | Configure product rules that drive status transitions, dormancy, maturity, and restrictions. |
| Account Holds And Blocked Funds | Deposits -> Operations | Review restrictions before freezing, closing, or reactivating accounts. |
| EOD Processing | Deposits or Administration financial setup where available | Run automated status transitions such as dormancy, maturity, or scheduled account changes. |
Why Status Control Matters
Status rules prevent invalid account actions, such as transacting on a closed account, withdrawing from a frozen account, or treating an unfunded fixed deposit as active.
The UI only exposes actions that are valid for the current account status and the user's permissions.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Account has been created but is not yet active. |
| Approved Pending Funding | Fixed-deposit account is approved but still waiting for initial funding. |
| Active | Normal operating state. |
| Dormant | Account has been inactive beyond the configured dormancy threshold. |
| Frozen | Transactions are restricted by an authorised action. |
| Matured | Fixed-deposit term has completed. |
| Closed | Account is closed and should not be used for normal activity. |
Common Status Actions
| Action | Usually Allowed From | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Activate | Pending or approved-pending-funding | Makes the account active. |
| Close | Most non-closed statuses | Ends normal account use. |
| Freeze | Active or dormant | Restricts transactions. |
| Unfreeze | Frozen | Returns the account to active use if policy allows. |
| Reactivate | Dormant, frozen, or selected closed accounts | Restores active use where permitted. |
| Mature | Active fixed deposits | Marks the fixed-deposit term complete. |
| Go Dormant | Active accounts | Marks inactive accounts dormant. |
Some actions are user-triggered. Others happen during daily processing based on product and account rules.
Working With Status Actions
Before changing status, check:
- account balance
- holds, blocks, or pending transactions
- product type
- approval requirements
- reason for the action
- customer communication requirements
- any regulatory or internal policy constraints
Status changes should include a clear reason when the UI requests one.
Fixed-Deposit Notes
Fixed deposits can have statuses that ordinary savings accounts do not use heavily, such as Approved Pending Funding and Matured.
Do not force an FD account into active use before the required funding and approval steps are complete.
Dormancy Notes
Dormancy is usually automated based on inactivity settings. Reactivation may require customer verification, updated KYC, or approval depending on policy.
Freeze Notes
Freezing is a strong control. Use it only for valid reasons such as compliance review, dispute, court order, fraud concern, or management-approved restriction.
